The Benefits Coordinator will play a key role within the Benefits team by providing support and assistance to the Benefits team. Under the guidance and direction of an experienced and dynamic team, the Benefits Coordinator will have the opportunity to grow and learn in a hands-on role. This position serves a crucial role in our organization as they provide support to those responsible for the day-to-day administration of the various employee leaves such as FMLA, disability, state required leaves, etc. The Benefits Coordinator also supports administration of other employee benefits plans and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supports the leave administration process from employees' initial notice of the need for leave to the employee's return to work.   Ensure completion of required paperwork-including medical certifications, determine leave eligibility, designate or deny leaves as appropriate, recertify leaves, and track and account for leave time used.
  • Provides required leave information to employees, verbally and in writing.  Advises employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, worker's compensation, and short-term and long-term disability and other applicable leave benefits
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of leaves and related information.  Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and records.
  • Assists with managing workflow to ensure all leave transactions are processed accurately and timely, including reporting hours each pay period, tracking leave time, and notifying employees of expirations and need for recertification.
  • Maintains communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; keeps managers updated regarding employee leaves and work restrictions.
  • Assists with running reports and maintaining tracking spreadsheets for employee leaves and required paid sick and safe leaves in the United States.   
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resources data confidential.
  • Supports other department operations and projects as requested.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or 1 year of administrative office experience or experience in a customer support position.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel and have a good aptitude for working with data and spreadsheets.
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with high level of customer service and follow through
  • High degree of professionalism with ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Effective independent decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of FMLA and/or multi-state leave administration
