Mark Nesbitt Honored with NYSBA President’s Pro Bono Service Award

Aleron is proud to recognize Mark Nesbitt, recipient of the New York State Bar Association’s 2025 President’s Pro Bono Service Award for the Eighth Judicial District.

On May 1, 2025, The New York State Bar Association honored exceptional attorneys committed to pro bono service at its annual Law Day celebration. Among this year’s distinguished recipients was our own Mark Nesbitt, Aleron Associate Counsel, recognized for his extraordinary commitment to providing free legal services to those in need.

A Dedication to Service

Mark has consistently demonstrated his commitment to equal access to justice through his work with the Erie County Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project. As a dedicated participant in the Attorney of the Morning program, Mark takes valuable time away from his corporate law practice to represent clients who would otherwise navigate housing court without legal representation.

Beyond housing matters, Mark plays a vital role in the Buffalo Immigration Program, providing crucial legal assistance to vulnerable immigrants in our community. His work exemplifies the importance of pro bono service in achieving equal access to justice for all.

Ceremony Highlights

The ceremony took place in the Great Hall at the Bar Center in Albany, filled to capacity with judges and lawyers from across New York State. This year’s Law Day theme, “Out of Many, One,” highlighted America’s strength as a nation of immigrants and the importance of equal justice under the law.

New York State Bar Association President Domenick Napoletano opened the event by emphasizing that our justice system was built on the vision that “all people are created equal and entitled to liberty,” where due process provides equal standing between the wealthy and those without means.

Other distinguished guests included Tish James, Attorney General of New York, and Chief Judge Rowan Wilson of the New York State Court of Appeals, who joined President Napoletano in honoring the pro bono award recipients.

Commitment to Community

Aleron congratulates Mark on this well-deserved recognition. His dedication to pro bono service reflects our organization’s core values and commitment to supporting our communities. We are proud to have team members who exemplify the legal profession’s highest ideals of service and dedication to justice.

Mark joins a distinguished group of attorneys from across New York State who were recognized for their exceptional pro bono contributions. Their collective efforts demonstrate that when legal professionals donate their time and expertise, we move closer to fulfilling the promise of equal justice for all.
